Your home's energy score is now on realestate.com.au

Ever wondered why your power bill is higher than your neighbour's? Or how much a home will really cost to run before you buy it?

From today, you can find out on realestate.com.au. Our Home Efficiency Score now appears on Australian property profiles on the site, thanks to a new partnership with REA Group.

What is the Home Efficiency Score?

It's a simple score out of 10 that shows how energy efficient a home is. The higher the score, the less energy the home uses and the less it should cost to run.

The score looks at the things that drive your bills:

• heating and cooling

• hot water

• appliances

• the building itself, such as insulation, windows and how well it holds heat

You'll also see how the home compares with similar homes in the same suburb. So you'll know at a glance whether it's ahead of the pack or has room to improve.

How to find your score

1. Go to realestate.com.au and search for your address.

2. Open your home's Property Profile.

3. Scroll to the home energy efficiency section to see your score and suburb comparison.

Looking to buy or rent? Check the score on any home you're considering. Running costs are part of the real price of a home.

What you can do to improve it

Your score comes with practical suggestions tailored to your home, such as:

• solar panels and a home battery

• a hot water heat pump

• efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning

For each upgrade, you'll see estimated savings and rebates you may be eligible for. When you're ready, you can fill in a short form to connect with local installers and compare quotes.
